FAQs

I AM NOT FIT, CAN I START TRAINING?

Yes. We will work with you to improve your fitness level at a steady pace. You do not need to be super fit or flexible to start.

HOW AND WHEN DO I GET A TAEKWONDO UNIFORM?

Taekwondo uniforms are available from your instructor. These start around £30 depending on size. There is no rush to get a uniform but you will need to have one by the time you take your first grading (Approximately three months after starting).

HOW DO I MOVE ON TO THE NEXT BELT?

To move through the grades you take practical exams known as “gradings”. There are set moves and routines you need to learn for each grade and these are explained in our training syllabus. Each grading costs £25 and your instructor will advise you when you are ready. For more information visit our Taekwondo Gradings page.

I HAVE DONE TAEKWONDO BEFORE, CAN I COME BACK AT THE SAME GRADE?

Yes. If you have your certificates from a recognised group, you can restart your training at the same grade.

IF I MOVE AWAY, CAN I TAKE MY GRADE WITH ME?

Yes. The grade you have earned is yours and is recognised by the World Taekwondo Federation. Simply keep hold of your certificates and take them with you when you find a new club. Feel free to ask our instructors if they know of any good clubs in the area you are moving to.

WHEN CAN I TAKE PART IN COMPETITIONS?

If sparring or pattern competitions are something you are interested in, you can start as soon as your instructor thinks it is safe for you to do so. There is no minimum grade requirement although for pattern competitions you will need to know at least a few forms which you learn as you move through the grades. For more information about progression visit our Taekwondo Gradings page
