2024 Christmas Party & Awards

In Chung Yong we have made it a tradition to never give out too many awards but we do like to recognise those who have just managed to stand out that little bit more.

This year was a tough one with so many members achieving successes and personal goals. The discussions around the award winners had of lot of members in the mix, so if you did not win, your were probably still in the discussion somewhere. Keep up the great work, it may be your turn next year!

Our best newcomer award went to Howard, for the energy and effort he brings to the class, as well as the progress he has made starting to move through the grades.

Our most improved flexibility award went to Alborz, for the noticeable change in his flexibility over the year, and his determination to use his new ability in training.

Our fighter of the year award went to Sophia, for her all round attitude and performance in competition, dedication to training, and noticeable improvement in speed, skill and ability.

Our most improved junior award went to Tate, for his dedication and achievements this year including gaining his 1st Dan Black Belt and his training attitude in the very tough Saturday morning black belt class.

Our Student of the Year award went to Deborah, for her pure determination and effort in every class, the support she brings to the club, and her willingness to get involved, dig deep, and lead by example.

Carrie, Nicola and Katherina, our (non instructor) management team were recognised for putting in so much more work than people realise, including keeping all members insured, venues hired, running TCGB competitions, providing feedback and support, arranging charity and community events, and for instigating just about everything fun we do.

Master Drury, Master Gibbs, Master Patel, Master French and Mr Kellaway, our volunteer instructor team, were presented with gifts from the club to say thank you for all the hard work they put in every year, every week, every lesson!

Master Gibbs was also presented with the sparring coach of the year award, which in fairness could have gone to any of our coaches with just a vote or two in a different direction. This goes to show the great team we have!

Our amazing members were of course recognised and thanked for making our club the family it is!

There was so much good food on offer it was impossible to get through it all. Thank you to everyone who contributed!! Your effort, cooking, and baking skills did not go unnoticed! Stuffed!!

Well done to everyone in the club for a successful and productive year. We look forwards to achieving even more in 2025!
